On a recent walk through Chinatown I came across this stunning looking fruit. At first I wasn’t sure the name of it, but then realized it was dragon fruit. What to do with the fuchsia-hued dragon fruit? I googled some recipes and after reading a few that didn’t seem appetizing, I decided it was best to eat this fruit on its own and spooned the white flesh out of its skin. The flavor? Not as enticing as its color, but refreshing in an apple-y, kiwi kind of way. There are black seeds crunchy like sesame.
I think I would like sorbet made from dragon fruit, perhaps mixed with coconut or papaya, but I’ll save that for another day.
