Pumpkin spice latte {I love autumn}

Oh, autumn, how I love thee.

The crisp weather, the beauty of the trees, the pumpkin cupcakes, pumpkin risotto (with Chinese 5-Spice), the magic in the air in NYC…and pumpkin spice lattes.

I am guilty of swinging by Starbucks for a fix, but then after reading this article by Food Babe, I’m a bit turned off by their rendition.

So I made my own pumpkin mix, which you’ll find below, and made a cappuccino on my Capresso. I swirled in a dollop of the pumpkin and then topped it with steamed milk.

The result: A dreamy latte with fall flavors, and so much better than the place that made them popular.

You can also use this pumpkin sauce for:
Waffles, ice cream, crepes and whatever else you can dream up!

Pair it with cake
This pumpkin spice latte would pair well with this pound cake.

I never get tired of this song from Billie Holiday—Autumn in New York

Pumpkin Spice for Lattes

  • 1 1/4 cups of pumpkin purée
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1/2 cup of water

Add all the ingredients to a medium-sized pot. Over medium to high heat, bring to a boil while stirring so that all the ingredients combine.
Once it's boiling, lower heat and simmer for 10-12 minutes.
Let cool and then store in jar, such as a mason jar. Refrigerate and ten serve a spoonful in your favorite coffee.
