Sweets: Smoke & Stout Caramel Bar from Vosges

I am always on the lookout for good chocolate, like my friend Sue Ann Gleason of Chocolate for Breakfast. Because I love unique flavor combinations, after a day at The Metropolitan Museum of Art I was thrilled to stumble upon Vosges, an adorable purple and white store known for their exotic chocolates.

While I was tempted by a few of Vosges’ new chocolate bars—smoked banana caramel, red fire caramel and gingerbread toffee, I couldn’t’ wait to taste the smoke & stout caramel bar.

It’s made with:

Rogue Ale’s Chocolate Stout beer
Alderwood smoked salt
burnt sugar caramel
dark chocolate

As Vosges owner Katrina Markoff says, “The stout accented with the smoked salt and cream caramel makes this an intoxicating trio.” Suffice it to say, if you like these three flavors, you’ll love this chocolate bar.

You can find out more about Vosges (and other chocolate shops) in my app NYC iFoodShop: A food lover’s guide to shopping in New York City.

To purchase Vosges chocolates, visit Vosges Haut-Chocolat or one of their stores in NYC (plus other locations you can find on their site):

  1. I remember stumbling into that shop on my last trip to NYC and walking out thinking I needed to add more “purple” to my life. I certainly have enough chocolate! LOL

  2. You and Sue Anne are going to turn me into a true connoisseur of chocolate yet. I’m looking at my shabby little pile of Hershey’s and Lindt and thinking I need to go on a chocolate expedition. I’m taking notes, ladies.
