What do you wish for? (Aside from world peace). Here’s my wish list.

Another web site asked me to come up with a wish list of things that would make my life as a work-at-home mom easier. Although the idea fell through, I thought, why not post it here? It was fun to fantasize about new gifts, because I feel like I already have so much: a new home, a great husband, a wonderful daughter, a healthy family, peace + happiness and all the kitchen gadgets a busy hedonist could want.

But here are a few things that would enhance my life even more. It’s fun to think about: what would like to receive?

Gaggia Platinum Espresso Machine $1,299
I’m one of those coffee geeks who makes pilgrimages to coffee shops around New York City in search of the best cup. And while my French press is keeping me happily caffeinated at home, I’d really love a cappuccino maker because I prefer espresso and foamy milk. So I’ve been eyeing this Gaggia Platinum Espresso Machine at Sur La Table, because a morning buzz is a must for this busy mom.

Bose Noise Canceling Headphones $299.95
I love listening to music while I work, but since I do a lot of my writing at night when my daughter is asleep, I keep the volume down low. And those little earphones that come with most Apple products simply aren’t comfortable for long periods of time. I’d love these Bose Headphones so I can blast my favorite music while working—and not wake up my family.

Family Membership to The Metropolitan Museum of Art $200
I think every busy mom and business owner needs an escape from her everyday life once in a while. For me it’s museums. They can take me out of my life for a couple of hours and even though I am not an artist, inspire me. I love strolling the halls and looking at old favorites and finding new discoveries I’d never noticed. I’d love a family membership so my husband, daughter and I could make a habit of it. I’d like to show her that certain works of art are like old, magical friends to visit when taking a break from an ordinary day.

Fire Starter Session with Danielle LaPorte $1,000
I keep hearing amazing things about Danielle LaPorte’s Fire Starter Session, which is a 1-on-1 business-life-shifting strategy session. But at this point in my life I’d rather spend $1,000 on my daughter or save it for her nursery school. This is a definite splurge, but I know it would further skyrocket my life. It would be amazing to receive a gift like this.

10 Class Pass to Dharma Yoga $140
A few years ago I did yoga all the time and I miss it. A class pass would propel me back, and I know it would help keep me a bit more rejuvenated, as I’m prone to feeling overwhelmed with my hectic lifestyle. This yoga school is not as convenient to me as it once was (I recently moved), but of all the yoga studios I’ve been to (and I’ve been to a ton), Dharma Yoga is the real deal. Owner Sri Dharma Mittra is a site to behold—he looks amazing for his age. But it’s his essence, demeanor and powerful presence that make even yoga teachers flock to his welcoming studio.

Wine Glasses from Reidel
It’s hard to believe, a busy food lover who doesn’t own a nice a set of wine glasses. But for whatever reason it’s true. (And a bunch of my mismatched ones broke during my move.) So this fusion set suits me perfectly because it comes with a variety of 20 glasses for different types of wine, so whether I’m serving white, red or sparkling, my guests and I will have the perfect glass.
